CUP CAPTAINS’ RESPONSIBILITIES

1. FAMILIARIZE yourself with your duties and responsibilities, the Rules of Play and what circumstances could result in a penalty.

2. GIVE each team member a copy of the Rules of Play and the Schedule.

3. COMPLETE AND RETURN BY EMAIL your final team roster to the Cup Matches Coordinator by AUGUST 18, 2019. If you have any questions, please call.

4. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR TEAM ROSTER. An official team must consist of the five (5) CWGA members with the lowest indexes who are available for each match.

5. NEW CWGA MEMBERS must have joined by July 1, 2019 in order to be eligible to play on your team. They must meet the criteria of having entered at least 5 scores in the current year.

6. EXCHANGE TEAM ROSTERS. Only on the first morning of play will Captains be required to make up scorecards. After the first day of play, cards should be made in advance using the following procedure:

• Each captain makes a packet to distribute to the other captains in her cup. These packets are exchanged at the first match. The packet contains their final team roster, 8 scorecards and a USGA handicap conversion sheet for their course (the additional cards are for any roster changes).

• Captains should report their final rosters for an upcoming match several days ahead of time by email or phone to both the host club captain and the opposing team captain. This allows time for scorecards to be prepared before arriving at the course on the morning of play.

• Proper player positioning must be confirmed by each captain whenever rosters are shared. “Player Positioning” means the lower index team member plays in the first position, the next lowest index team member plays in the second position, etc. Captains are responsible for preparing scorecards with strokes marked accordingly. (Do not delegate this to your Pro Shop staff.)

7. INFORM team members they MUST share a cart with their opponent. *NO WALKING with or without a caddy. Matches are to be played in twosomes not foursomes.

*Except at Hartford Golf Club - (See exception at the end of the Rules of Play).

8. REMIND team members they are expected to stay for lunch. The host clubs accommodate us and make special plans, please show our appreciation by staying for lunch.

9. SLOW PLAY – Communicate to your team members to keep pace with the group ahead of them.

10. GIVE A COPY of your signed official completed score sheet to the host captain after all matches are completed. Keep your own record of the results of each match played.

11. PLAYERS POST THEIR OWN SCORES. All players except the host team should post scores as “AWAY”.
